  • Q How do I choose the right makeup artist /hairstylist for my wedding?

    Research before reaching out

Wedding makeup artists & hairstylists should have an online presence with a bridal portfolio of their work. Find someone with an aesthetic you love; every artist's style will vary and you should choose one which fits with you, to achieve the look you want on your big day.

    Read reviews

You want a wedding makeup artist & hairstylist who'll be on time, do beautiful work and add a positive vibe to your day. Pay attention if previous clients report bad experiences with a wedding supplier.

Consider skin tones, skin type, and age

If your bridal party has a range of skin tones, ages, and requirements, make sure your wedding makeup artist and assistants are experienced and talented working with everyone.

For such an important day, pick someone professional, qualified, insured, and registered, who has vast experience at many weddings who will guide you through the process and give you exclusively for the day.

BOOKINGS

  • Q. When should I book?

    Make an enquiry

You can enquire at any point but we take bookings 18 months ahead of the date; once booked, we're exclusively for one bride and her party for one date only! We never do multiple weddings in one day. So we are normally booked Friday -Sunday during Spring through to Autumn and December. For this reason, we do require a minimum booking during these peak times; as soon as you know your date, please book to avoid disappointment using the ‘Save the date' form. It's first come, first booked.

    Getting married abroad?

Destination weddings may require multiple dates therefore please get in touch as soon as you have chosen your venue and date ahead of the 18months.

  • Q. What if you are already booked on my wedding date?

Sadly, we can’t be a part of every bride’s special day

Demand for our services has soared over recent years and regrettably, we're unable to accommodate all the bridal inquiries we receive. We have built a team of highly skilled and experienced professional Makeup Artists and hairstylists, Bridal by Team Elite, and gone to great lengths to train as the very best artists and stylists to deliver the By Ruth signature style. When Ruth is working with larger wedding parties, she can rely on every member of the team to provide perfection and professionalism for all of our brides to be. Each of the team has been personally and thoroughly trained by Ruth in the art of bridal and special occasion makeup & hair. We have recruited some of the very best freelance Hair & Makeup Artists in the Midlands, all of which are exceptionally talented. Each artist offers their own unique style, set of qualities and experience and we will ensure the right person is assigned to you according to the service required and location. We're hugely recognised across the industry, working with many of the biggest names and magazines, meaning we will always provide a warm and top-class service. Please note: we're also available to be booked as a team to accommodate for all larger bridal parties.

  • Q. What is peak season? And why can’t I book a smaller package on a popular date?

Spring through to Autumn and December

The brides we do help, we must operate fairly to both parties on a first come first basis. Demand for our services means we're normally booked every Friday-Sunday, regrettably unable to accommodate all the bridal enquiries we receive. Therefore, to be able to provide our services exclusively, we have to have a minimum number required for Friday to Sunday bookings - the beginning of February- through to the end of October and the whole month of December. Most popular professional bridal makeup artists & hairstylists, who freelance and travel out of salon & studio, will also have a similar policy. contact us for more info.

  • Q. How should I book?

Complete the ‘Save the date’ form

It's as simple as filling in our short form with a few key details and emailing it back to us here at Bridal by or by Ruth. Once received, we will compare diaries, confirm availability and email you some extra information on the next steps, deposit, T & Cs and trials.

  • Q. What if I’m unsure on which package to book & numbers at this point?

    Booking the right package

Book the package that you believe is most likely going to suit you and your requirements for your big day. This means knowing the exact numbers & services needed for the occasion. This will need to be confirmed by the time of your trial, ideally 6 months prior to your wedding date. But before we discuss the trial, when picking a package, it's important you consider your service time and bridal suite access times, if that’s an early one or you have restricted access you may require a package with pro team assistance to speed thing up, even if your numbers are small.

    What happens during your trial?

At your trial, we will start to create a timeline and plan for the timings of the wedding morning, so it’s important to confirm numbers at this point. We use this information about the numbers in the party and services needed for the day to ensure the best team is there on your day. Normally bridal party members who are hesitant at first, do change their mind once they understand it’s our aim to make everyone look amazing and feel comfortable for the wedding. By discussing requirements during the trial, we can understand what each bridal party is comfortable with and work with them to create the perfect look. We design a beautiful, complementary look for those special ladies in your life, who will be there to support you on your Wedding Day. Creating a harmonious group look as well as catering to individual tastes, we always ensure that your bridesmaids blend with and compliment your vision for your special day. It is our goal that all our clients look the best versions of themselves and they normally decide they don't want to be left out after seeing your trial results.

  • Q. I can’t see an exact package to suit my requirements, do you provide bespoke packages?

There is a package for everyone

Our packages are worked out on approximate timings per person, per service and the number of assistants needed to complete the booking. They jump up in numbers due to needing more assistants. Hair & makeup services take a similar amount of time, therefore, services can be swapped. For example, if you require hair & makeup for the bride and just make up for 6 bridesmaids, you should book the "Diamond Cluster" package and we can swap the 3 hair for 3 makeups instead. If your numbers fall in between packages, you can also swap the extra person on the day for a bridal party trial with your lead artist (subject to lead artist diary availability )or you can add on additional services.

  • Q. Can I upgrade my package after trial?

    A.  We do have many brides that upgrade their original package, Any upgrades at the point of your trial are subject to availability of our artists. Leaving this till 6 months before does limit which of our team is free.

  • Q. Will it just be you on the day?

    A. Depending on how big your wedding party is, and when your service time is you may need one or more assistants. Our most popular packages include team Elite assistance, who have worked in the industry for many years and are amazing qualified freelance HMUA artists in their own right. At your trial,  we work closely with you to create a mood-board that will give the team a direction for your bridal parties look. As an artist that has a talented team, we can make you the priority and It will also minimize the time it takes for everyone to get ready. Win-win!

  • Q. I have a very large bridal party, can you cater for everyone?

We love working with large bridal parties

We are experienced with larger parties and always will do our best to help everyone but it will need some forward planning. Depending on the numbers, we book the bridal party by the size of the team needed on that day. We have a talented team of freelance professional makeup & hair stylists, that work alongside Ruth. To ensure their availability, it is best to finalise numbers and services needed earlier, especially if your wedding is during our peak times. Our record, so far, is over twenty ladies for hair & makeup!

  • Q. How many weddings do you work per day?

    Only one wedding per date

We will stay with you until the moment you’re ready to leave the room. We can help button a dress, attach a corsage, fix a veil or wipe a tear. We will be right there with you until you’re ready to go and get married! We are there exclusively for you and your bridal party; you have our full attention, best work, and we will stay until the job is done to perfection.

  • Q. What will happen if I am sick or have an emergency on my wedding day?

We're here to help, no matter what

In all these years of helping brides, we have never let a client down.  We've worked through illnesses, right through 9 months of two pregnancies, bereavements, snowstorms, floods etc to make it happen for our brides. We understand emergencies can happen at any time, therefore we have a contingency plan in place if we're unable to make it on your wedding day. We take lots of notes on your completed and very detailed trial bridal form. We also design a face chart that illustrates what products and techniques were used, take pictures from multiple angles and videos to record and document the look. This way if any of the assistants are needed to take over someone else's duties for the day, they will be able to easily recreate the look. If the By Ruth team aren’t available, we have a good network of other professional MUAs and hairstylists we would contact in an emergency situation.

  • Q. Will it be YOU at my wedding or another artist and who will do the bride?

    A. Yes, I will always prioritise the bride and you will be my main focus, but my experienced and amazing bridal by the team are on hand to help with larger parties or if I’m already booked at another wedding and you wish to have our signature bridal by Ruth style & service. So everyone can look forward to getting pampered and feeling special.

  • Q. Do you stay for touch up after the ceremony?

All our popular packages can be extended

We can be there either for touch-ups for everyone after the ceremony or into the evening with a change of look. This can be arranged for an additional cost if required. We always aim to create long-lasting, low maintenance looks for a wedding using long-wear, waterproof and heatproof setting products, so a touch up is rarely required. If you want to face your guests & photography team with a fresh face, just add this to your booking. For some weddings, it’s not always possible due to time restraints and location changes. You will find once the ceremony is completed, there may be little opportunity for this. As the star attraction, you will be in much demand from your photographer, guests, and new groom but if you think you would want your glam squad on stand by, we will be discreetly waiting - brushes at the ready! It is becoming popular to have a change of dress for the evening reception, so you may wish to arrange a change of look or a refresh for your existing look which can also be arranged. This isn't exclusive to just the bride, maybe your guests would also like a ‘change of look’  by booking our "Glitter Bar" package.

  • Q Can I get a discount because...?

    We're transparent with our costs

We do appreciate the costs involved when organising a wedding and we understand everyone has different budgets & priorities but we don’t believe it’s fair to offer a discount to some clients and not to others. So we offer all our clients the same quality first-rate service, expertise, and competitive rates. We believe it is integral to be upfront & transparent with our costs, with no hidden add on surprises. We do not need to undercut our competitors to obtain clients and most of our work comes from the reputation we've built over the years. You will see we are competitive with other qualified, experienced, insured and registered makeup artists & hairstylists using premium products.

Can you get a discount if you're a commercial client?

Our rates are the same for our bridal clients as our commercial clients. We don’t believe it’s fair to charge more to the client because it’s a wedding, equally we wouldn’t want to have to sacrifice a wedding appointment for a better paid commercial job. For these reasons, prices are non-negotiable.  All our prices & packages are worked out on timings, the number of clients, services requested, assistants needed not on specific styles wanted. Although product & colour choice and application techniques may differ from a natural look to a glam look, they both use premium products, similar time & attention to detail. Therefore, are a flat rate. There is no discount if no brow shape or false lashes are not required as we include these as a complimentary no-charge service. They can really enhance the look if they are required. There is no discount for partial services ( for example eyes only ). We don’t offer this option as good makeup application is about balance & harmony throughout the whole face. Charges do not vary for different styles, hair length, texture, techniques used etc- just a fair flat rate worked out on the approximate timings per person.

  • Q. Do you offer partial services -i.e just lashes, eyes or lips?

We certainly do not offer this for many reasons

We are very passionate about skin, to be honest, it’s easier to get colour (eyes, lips, blush ) right, rather than complexion (skin, prime, concealer, contour, powder, foundation) on point. Many ladies get this so wrong and unflattering - too heavy, wrong shade and wrong texture. We really believe beautiful makeup starts with beautiful skin, and it’s during this part of the makeup we shape the face, erase flaws, to create a perfect base that works well in HD flash photography. Enhancement of key features is about using balancing, harmony and colour theory throughout the whole face. We can honestly say there has never been a client, whether she is a professional model or real-life bride, who sat in the chair that didn’t look better after the skin was prepped, primed and with a little concealer. We really wouldn’t feel comfortable with a client doing this essential part of the makeover themselves as so many great makeup products simply don’t actually photograph well. We've all seen that red carpet white patch makeup fail, right? The perfect complexion needs to perform under the conditions of a wedding day - tears, laughter, heat and dancing, all captured by a sea of phones, cameras and video.

Achieving the best look for you

We always discuss before application each clients requirements, their specific preferences in respect of finish, coverage and we are experts on shade match. Every skin has multiple undertones, and we know what works for every colour and every undertone. We carry a vast colour range, we cater for all ethnicities, and carry a diverse range of shades and undertones. We also have products for different skin types, even sensitive ones, and lots of products to make your skin look younger, fresher and plumper.

  • Q. Why can’t I book ahead of 18 months?

For a few reasons, you cannot book in advance of 18 months

Most weddings don’t have all the details this far in advance, especially on the numbers required and the preparation location. And even in the case they do, we have found a lot can change in that time and brides need to amend details. Our diaries run a year and a half ahead so that our artists can schedule their own life events, like family weddings and special birthdays, holidays etc. Our artists are only human and their personal circumstances can change. For example, have a baby, health issues, move out of the area and we wouldn’t ever want to let you down. In addition, each year we review the services we offer, policy and procedure, our booking systems, and this could cause confusion. Also, this timeframe of 18months allows us to accommodate those having destination weddings that require multiple dates, not just the wedding date.

TIMINGS

  • Q. How long does the bridal makeup application and hair styling take?

We have a trial consultation to work out how long everything will take

We won’t know your exact timings nor your requirements for yourself and your bridal party until we meet at your trial consultation. On the wedding day, the look will be slightly quicker than the trial as we will be following a series of instructions, face chart, videos and photos recreating rather than discussing each step like during the trial. With this in mind, a timeline will be created after your appointment. Every bridal client & bridal party are different, therefore have different needs. We are unable to give the exact timings of the wedding day until after your trial appointment. As a guideline, we allow up to three hours for the Bride’s hairstyling and make up application and for the Bridal party including Mums and bridesmaids approximately 45 minutes per application of makeup or hair. Some ladies with particularly long, thick hair can take a little longer and some ladies with shorter, finer hair can take a little less. However, we generally find this evens out to be about 45mins approximately. We split this time between the team and working backwards off your ceremony, to create a timeline and suggested schedule. It's really is impossible to work out exact timings prior to meeting with you.

What will we discuss at your trial?

At your trial, we will discuss at length what you and your bridal party want, as everyone has different requirements for their hair & makeup needs. Hair timings very much depend on length, texture and style required. When working out your morning's schedule and time to be ready with your beauty preparation consider these factors. Registrar interviews, photography, lace-up dresses, vintage car journeys etc., in short, allow plenty of time we would prefer to arrive earlier than feel rushed at the end.

  • Q. My venue has time restrictions on access to the bridal preparation suite or I have an early ceremony time, will everyone be ready in time?

    Clever planning is key

Yes but this may take some careful, forward planning at your trial to create a well-planned schedule for the wedding morning, allowing not only to be ready in ample time but also to the highest standard. We are here to help with this as it’s not every day you get married. We are part of bridal mornings every week, so let us assist and advise you, and together we will design a realistic, workable timeline.

Working backwards from your ceremony time

If it’s a non-religious service, you need to be ready and waiting for your private legal interview with a registrar, approximately 30mins prior to the ceremony. When creating your wedding morning timeline, you need to consider pre-ceremony photography, time for everyone to get dressed, gift-giving, breakfast, your glam squads set up & pack down and any journeys needed. For us, we would rather start earlier than finish late. As a rough guide, we allow for approximately 1hr 30mins per person for average hair & makeup, but this can vary.

    Be realistic

If there is restricted access to your bridal venue and the time slot doesn’t work for you and your bridal party, don’t feel obligated to use it especially if this will cause you to feel rushed, or stressed. This definitely isn’t the vibe you want on the morning of your wedding day. Some bridal clients offer the facility to the groomsmen and other brides get ready elsewhere and use the bridal suite solely to dress. Some will need to have makeup and hair done in stages at two locations and we will work with you to create a plan that works for you and your bridal party.

  • Q. Do you work on Sundays, bank holidays, over Christmas etc? And if so, is there an extra charge?

Sunday is one of the most popular days for a wedding right now

We are happy to take wedding bookings on Sundays and bank holidays. In fact, Sundays are now as popular as Saturdays. Jewish, Asian and Greek weddings are normally on Sundays, and we don’t feel it is fair to charge different rates to brides of different cultures or religions. Therefore there is no additional charges for booking on these particular days.

    Do we work over Christmas?

We do not work Christmas Day and there is a small surcharge for weddings booked between December 26th - December 31st. For more information on this surcharge, contact us.

  • Q. How early can you start?

As makeup artists, we are used to early starts

On the morning of the wedding, we would much rather start early and you feel relaxed than rushed at the end. We work our timeline back from your ceremony time and travel all over the country. If however, your schedule requires us to depart our studio before 5 am, we do require an unsociable hours fee of £25 per artist per hour. Or you may wish to book an additional assistant to accommodate your party and time schedule. You may also want to consider arranging accommodation nearby for us the night before, so we can get there nice and early.

  • Q. Do you stay for touch ups?

    A. Want to keep us for longer? No problem

We are exclusively yours up until the ceremony and we always aim to create long-lasting low maintenance looks for a wedding using long-wear waterproof and heatproof setting products so a touch up is rarely required but all of our popular packages can be extended for either touchups or change of look for the evening.

Some weddings it’s not possible due to time location changes or time restraints, for example, if you spent just 2 mins talking to 60 guests that are 2hours time flys. You may find once the ceremony is completed there may be little opportunity for much more than a dash of powder or swirl of gloss or an extra Bobby pin

As the star attraction you will be in much demand from your photographer, guests, and new groom but if you think you would want your glam squad on stand by we will be discreetly waiting with brushes ready!  It is becoming popular to have a change of dress /outfit for the evening reception you may wish to arrange a change of look at this point and refresh your look which can also be arranged and maybe your guests would also like a ‘change of look’  by booking our glitter bar here are the options if requested:

    Touch-ups after ceremony

Glam squad on standby, so you & your bridal party can face your guests and photography team refreshed, retouched and picture-perfect, we will be discreetly waiting behind the scenes at your preparation location venue brushes ready for touch-ups for everybody after the ceremony. Just add this to your booking. This charged at our hourly rate per artist from the time your depart for your ceremony till our pack up & departure

Touch’s ups and Change of look

    3. Remaining Balance:

    Payment methods

All booking fee/deposits are paid to Bridal By via BACs payment/ bank transfer will be confirmed with receipt only once cleared and with proof of payment.

All remaining balances are paid by the client to the chosen artist in two instalments only. The chosen artist will email you directly payment options BACs, PayPal or cash and their payment details. All cash payments need to be cleared prior to commencing services. Bridal By and its Artists do not accept cheques, or payments by multiple individuals within the bridal party. Any late payments put your booking in Jeopardy.

Please note that all payments should be made in accordance with the above schedule and our Terms & Conditions policy, to ensure the smooth delivery of services for your special event.

  • Q. Can I pay before my balance is due?

For many reasons, we don't accept payments before you are invoiced

We prefer not to receive any forward payments before your invoice has been worked out and sent to you, after your trial appointment. Any payments made before the balance is requested will be non-refundable and non-transferable. This is for several reasons. Even though we always make our best efforts to not let anything get in the way of us being there for you on your wedding morning, unfortunately, unpredictable events happen - like a pandemic! In fact, every year there are weddings that are cancelled for unforeseen circumstances - some for happy reasons with a baby on the way, or sadly moved forward due to illness or cancelled altogether due to financial reasons or break up. We would not feel comfortable receiving your money and are not in a position to refund you, therefore the only funds we request ahead of service is your deposit (a small fee to hold your date and cover our time at trial). At this point in your trial time, exact numbers of services are finalised and a plan for the morning is created with any additional travel costs which will be clearly broken down on your invoice. It also makes it more difficult for us to track payments and causes confusion if they are not requested, required or made too far in advance of the invoice.

  • Q. My bridesmaids are paying for themselves, how much is it per person?

There are a few ways you can divide the payments between yourself and your bridal party

As a rule, we do not get involved in this as it would prove to be very complicated so we have a contract solely with you, the bride, regardless of who is paying the bill or contributing towards it. As a guide, you may wish to subtract the cost of either the diamond solitaire package (brides makeup & hair & trial ) or the pearl solitaire package (brides makeup & trial) off the total of your chosen package then divide the remainder with the bridal party. Or if you wish, you could quote each person, the additional person, the day costs for makeup or hair or both.

  • what is my final balance including travel?

we don’t calculate your travel untill we have met for trial as there many things you Will discuss at your trial with your Artist which may effect your timeline for your wedding morning , including things like venue access restrictions, so 2 preparation locations maybe required and between now and then things can change, this is why at this stage we link all the relevant information from our website in your first "next steps to your wedding" email once you have enquired to ensure you have the guide. Please see addtional information and expenses page located in bridal packages , or our faqs for how to calculate travel expenses.  Also Bridal party members and their requirements may vary so we  confirm final numbers at trial. please see our faqs for what happens at trial for more information.

  • Q. How much will my exact travel costs be?

Any travel costs will be discussed with you

As there may be multiple preparation locations to accommodate your booking, we cannot give you an exact travel quote for your booking until we have all the details on file and every requirement you have at your trial. As a guide, we use google maps from our studio to your preparation location, multiple the mileage to include a round trip, subtract the included 30miles and multiple these mileages by 0.50 pence per mile 2022/2023 then by 0.60 pence per mile for 2024. To work out any additional travel time costs, do the same with the time taken (round trip) subtracting the included 1hour 30mins,  any additional hour is multiple by £25 per hour. /£12.50 per additional 30 minutes.

  • Q. Can I book you for a destination wedding?

Trusting a makeup artist is daunting and especially so when you have never met before. You can take that stress away by taking your makeup artist abroad with you for your special day. We can travel outside of the UK on either side of your wedding date to fit with transfers & flight schedules to your chosen wedding destination & venue. On your big day, we will arrive at your bridal suite and recreate the exact look we already trialled in the UK, rather than risk a beauty ‘blind date’ with an unknown local hair and makeup artist who possibly doesn’t speak the same language, or who has a different outlook on beauty.

You can put your trust in us

Our team is experienced with destination weddings and photoshoots so we know the methods to apply makeup in hotter climates with our professional kit and products that will perform in soaring temperatures and humid conditions. We come fully planned & prepared for all weather conditions. If planned well, in advance, additional flights and accommodation need not break your wedding budget either. Destination weddings will incur different costs so please provide full details to request an exact quote. The team are happy to share accommodation and are all makeup & hair artists which helps with supplier costs. Also, many of your guests normally wish to take advantage of having a professional UK glam squad on hand which can help towards costs. Destination weddings may require multiple dates on either side of your date, therefore it's important to get in touch once you have chosen your venue and date.

  • Q. Do you offer on-location services, or do I come to you?

For your convenience, we are a mobile hair & makeup team that travels to you. We can get you ready at your preferred location, your home, hotel or chosen venue. Unlike salon based stylists we offer this as a complimentary service within our packages ( no additional call-out fees)

  • Q. How far will you travel?

Worldwide baby!! We LOVE 2 travel, and would gladly come with you anywhere you want us to go! Please inquire for more details on travelling fees for your specific event.

  • Q. Do I need to provide my own products/makeup?

    We provide EVERYTHING

From primers to setting spray, lashes to lipstick etc, we bring everything with us. You can take comfort in the knowledge that the products we use are carefully selected for their quality and suitability. A lip top-up is also included in each package for any lip touch-ups needed, but some of our brides like to treat themselves to an extravagant keepsake lippy like Christian Louboutin or Hermes for their big day. Or some brides wish to use their favourite shades so we are happy to use your preferred choice. We will still include a complimentary lip product.

  • Q. Can I use my own products?

We work with the products we love because we know they perform

We prefer to work with the products we've tested ourselves and have found to be the best for every makeup look. All our products guarantee longevity and work in HD & flash photography. Of course, if you have anxiety about a skin condition or prefer a particular product for your skin type, please bring any products along to your trial appointment that works for you so we can discuss further and trial things out.

  • Q. Do you Airbrush?

We rarely use airbrush techniques on our bridal clients

Yes, we're qualified airbrush artists with a top range airbrush system but we very rarely use this application technique anymore for bridal clients. We love using this for special effects work but for us, the cons outweigh the pros. We would rather offer bespoke choices on texture, finish, coverage and something that works for each client’s skin type rather one size fits all approach.  Airbrushing was very popular fifteen years ago when a matte look was all the rage.

    What is airbrushing?

Airbrushes are simply a compressor that sprays a blanket like application of foundation through a gun onto your face. The benefit is more for the artist as they use little product and they are quicker than other applications. To be long-wear and waterproof, they have to be silicone or alcohol-based foundations. These kinds of foundations can go flaky on drier skin, emphasise uneven texture like lines on mature skin or blemishes on problematic skin. And is hard to blend into the hairline, difficult to touch up, re-blend and can streak if you do get teary (which is obviously expected on your big day). We're artists, therefore we prefer to sculpt our client’s features and erase their flaws with the flexibility of a brush and sponge. The 'airbrushing' referred to in magazines for models is actually Photoshop, a post-production photography technique. This often confuses people into thinking it's airbrush make up making models look flawless.

  • Q Are the products used cruelty-free?

We believe we all have a responsibility to live as ethically and kindly as possible

Using Cruelty-Free & Vegan cosmetics is one of our ways of ensuring we are as ethical as possible. We try to include as many of these products in our kits as possible; brands such as Kat Von Dee, Tarte, Illamasqua, Fenty, NYX, Charlotte Tilbury, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Urban Decay and Bare Minerals. That said, we do not choose products centred solely on this. Our choice criteria is based on how well a product performs; they need to be able to stand up to the expectations of both us as artists and our clients. Animal testing in the cosmetic industry has been banned in the UK since 1998, however as global companies manufacture overseas, it is difficult to know for sure as brands selling into China, animal testing is required by law.

  • Q. What hygiene precautions do you take?

Everything is cleaned and regulated for your safety

All of our make-up kits are cleaned regularly with IPA, all make-up brushes are sanitised after each person and washed after each booking. We use disposable mascara wands and sponges. We wash our hands regularly, use an antibacterial hand gel before and between each client and generally use a puff on my hand during application. We never blow on to our brushes and decanter liquid & cream products onto the back of our hands rather than a double-dip. We reserve the right to refuse makeup application if any of the party has contagious skin conditions in the interest of your personal health, safety and well-being, and that of our artists and other clients. Full list contraindications are listed on our T&Cs that will prevent or restrict any clients application/styling.

  • Q. Do you sell cosmetic products? Will my bridal party hear a sales pitch on my wedding day?

    No, we're not salespeople

The By Ruth team are professional hair and makeup artists, so rest assured we are not salespeople; you can relax in the knowledge we will look after you so you can enjoy the experience. We will make you look & feel gorgeous on your wedding day.

Are we happy to recommend products that will work for you?

Of course! We are asked for advice on makeup & hair all the time; which products we recommend, how to use them and what products to avoid etc, and we will discuss these with you during your trial. Any products suggested will be our love of the product and how it performs. Should you require advice on other beauty services such as tanning, nails, beauty, aesthetic treatments or hair colour or extensions, we can always recommend other hair & beauty professionals. Please note: we're not on commission and have no affiliation with any third party or brand.

  • Q. Do you do offer other services? Tan, Nails, semi-permanent lashes etc?

No, but we're happy to make recommendations

Our training is in makeup & hair rather than beauty, so we do not currently offer any beauty services, but we are always happy to make recommendations.

  • Q. Will the makeup last all day?

    A. Yes, our makeup should last all day! Although we make no claims to this, the feedback we get from our previous clients is that they looked flawless from Midday to Midnight! We always aim to create low maintenance long-lasting looks that take you through the day and all the emotions of a wedding. All makeup applied is selected for its high performance & staying power. That said weddings are emotional days so if you cry try and dab those tears away near your eye rather than letting it run through your blusher we will send you off with tissues just in case. If you are more of an oily skin type or get particular hot it’s worthwhile to have a little touch-up kit to hand but you shouldn’t need much, just helps you feel refreshed and stops any unwanted shine for hot summers days you may wish to carry some blotting papers or powder compact to stop any shine coming through. For your peace of mind, it can also be handy to have a concealer on hand in case anyone has a makeup emergency. We will provide you with a lipstick/lipgloss for touch-ups up as we anticipate you would have to touch it up during the day! You will need to touch up your lipstick after your meal etc but other than this there should be little for you to worry about on your wedding day!

  • Q Are lashes included for everyone?

    A. Yes for anyone who wants or needs them our artists provide a variety of faux lash options from small individuals to glamorous strips

Even if you’ve never considered sporting false lashes in your day-to-day life, you may want to consider incorporating them for a fab-u-lash wedding day

Contrary to popular belief, faux lashes don’t have to be over-the-top, or just for dramatic eye makeup. We use a lash to lengthen and add volume or enhance the eye shape they frame the eye and look incredible in photos.

When you meet with your artist they will discuss your requirements , the options, assess your eye shape and find a complementary style of lash for your look. Lashes are complimentary for all our clients as we feel they can really enhance the look.

CLIENTS

  • Q Do you cater for sensitive skin?

Every effort is made to avoid products and ingredients that cause common reactions

Prior to any makeup application, we will consult with you and your bridal party regarding your skin type, skin conditions and any history of prior allergic reactions. Each product is carefully selected for its quality and suitability to each individual client. We will work with you and advise you on the suitability of products, although no guarantees can be made regarding reactions. Your trial is a great opportunity to see if certain products suit your skin. Please do inform us of any skin conditions, allergies or reactions to specific products or ingredients prior to makeup application for yourself or the bridal party. Skin patch tests and consultations are complimentary for any of your bridal party and are advisable if a member of the bridal party has particularly sensitive skin.

  • Q. Do you cater for different ethnicities?

We have a wealth of experience working with a beautifully diverse range of skin tones

Please refer to our portfolio. We cater to all ethnicities and cultures. We understand how important it is to find a makeup artist who understands the concerns a woman of colour may face with her makeup & hair. We enhance each client using our vast kit containing a variety of different shades & textures.

We like to be guided by the client, on their specific requirements

There are dozens of different skin shades, hair textures and not every makeup artist or hairstylist is proficient in them all! If you have a diverse bridal party, you need an artist and a stylist who can make you and every one of your bridesmaids feel confident and beautiful, not just some. We guarantee everyone will look and feel beautiful throughout your special day!

  • Q. Do you provide services for same sex marriages?

We are fully supportive of the LGBTQ+ community

We're more than happy to be a part of your day, no matter your sexual orientation. We believe that ‘Love is Love’ and every bride deserves the star treatment for their big day, there’s nothing we’d love more than to help you create the happy memories that will last a lifetime. And what's better than one Bride?… Two Brides of course!

What services can we offer for same-sex marriages?

We offer a few options to accommodate same-sex couples. If you are planning to share your wedding morning together at the same location, simply add on an additional Bride to your original package. Or for those of you who have decided that you would like to go a more traditional route of getting prepared at separate locations, you can book two separate packages. With two separate packages, both brides will have their own lead artist, bridal by the team and Luxury kit to ensure that you are both given equal attention and both receive only the highest quality services, ensuring that you both get the best possible experience!

  • Q. Are you comfortable working with mature skin?

We pride ourselves on the fact we work with all skin types, at all ages

We know makeup can be a powerful weapon to either create modern flattering age-appropriate looks or outdated harsh inappropriate looks. In the words of Coco Chanel, "Nothing makes a woman look so old as trying desperately hard to look young". Applying an ‘on trend’ technique like baking under the eye on anyone over thirty is a questionable choice, we adjust our products and techniques for each client and as our skin changes with the years, so do our beauty needs. Depending on age, skin type and undertones, each person’s cosmetic needs are unique. Mature skin has characteristics and needs that a younger skin does not. Some makeup artists are only accustomed to making up young clients and have a one size fits all approach that doesn’t translate to different age ranges. Fun fact, our oldest Bride to date was in her 80s and she was fabulous and was delighted with her age-appropriate makeup!

  • Q. Can you make me look 10 years younger? Or transform me into Kim Kardashian?

We create a look that flatters the unique person YOU are!

We love women who are unashamedly themselves but we understand most women struggle to see their own true beauty. We want to show you how beautiful you are! Empowering your confidence, and crushing any insecurities. To change you into a different person or reverse the signs of ageing (removing lines & wrinkles), you should probably be realistic about the limitations of makeup to avoid disappointment. We're all about self-love and makeup can enhance and empower you to be more confident and to hopefully accept/ love the person you are which in turn gives you an inner glow. We're saddened to see so many ladies focusing only on the bits they don’t like; they can’t even see their own unique beauty. We're here to point out the good bits you may have forgotten about. You either need to embrace every line, wrinkle, crease and crinkle as they are a part of you and your story. Or if something is overshadowing your love for yourself, a consultation with a medical professional to discuss your options with Aesthetics is an option, whichever one makes you smile is the right answer for you. Remember, a smile is the prettiest makeup any girl can wear!

TRIALS

  • Q. What happens at the trial?

The trial is the first fun step to creating your perfect wedding look

The trial is an essential part of the process as it allows us to understand your vision for your wedding day. Makeup & hair is a very personal expression of you and your style, and we are here to help you achieve your dream bridal look. At your trial, we create a clear plan as to how you and your bridal party will look for the big day.

What do we do at your trial?

First, we will have a consultation to discuss at length all your specific requirements. Communication from both parties is key to a successful trial, so we will ask you many questions on your preferences (likes, dislikes, taste) and personal style. We will put you at ease, make suggestions, offer advice and then we will decide on and create the look you desire. During the application, we will analyse your unique features and colouring using my facial mapping and colour theory techniques to get bespoke, flattering and long-lasting results. This is where you will see how good makeup application can really enhance your lips, cheeks bones and eyes effectively. Equally, your face shape with hair styling creates a beautiful lasting style. We understand all your concerns, you can relax with an expert who understands how nervous a bride can be about looking over made-up, under made up or who is just worried about looking like someone else entirely!

If you wish, you can bring references with you

We are here to advise you on a bridal look that will enhance your unique features but having some reference pictures from magazines, Pinterest or the internet can help you share the kind of styles you like.

  • Q Where do I come for my trial?

Bookings with Ruth or Lian are at their Studios Ruth and Lian  have beautiful studios which have been designed especially for trials, where you can relax and enjoy being pampered. Our studios have professional lighting to accommodate perfect application and a room full of the latest and greatest make-up and hair products, tons of kit/ equipment and plenty of reference ideas for inspiration. We also have some basic photographic equipment so we can create clear HD images of your trial look at various angles, similar to your wedding photography.  appointment. we have multiple style tongs, heated rollers of various sizes, wavers, straighteners and blow-dry tools.

Trial Bookings with Senior Bridal by artists are to be discussed and arranged with your individual artist.

  • Q What do I need to do to prepare for the trial?

A photo is worth a thousand words when describing your ideal vibe

Many brides bring visual ideas of the looks they want to achieve for their big day. If you're thinking about bringing photos of your ideas with you, look for someone with similar hair colour, texture, length, age and skin tone as yourself. In other words, be realistic about your expectations. Another great source of inspiration? You! Bringing photos of yourself at a time when you felt a million dollars and you know your hair and makeup looked great is a quick way to introduce me to your personal aesthetic. If you do have any inspiration ideas pictures, from Pinterest, Instagram or other places on the internet etc - bring them along. This will help when we're discussing your preferences but don’t worry if you haven't got a firm idea or you are unsure as to what exactly to go for. We just need to have an idea of what you like and we can make plenty of flattering suggestions!

If you have a photo of your dress, this will help us too

We as makeup artists and hairstylists know the importance of harmony between your bridal styling and your makeup & hair. So if you can, bring a photo of your dress and even better, a photo of you in the dress.

Don't wear makeup on the day of your trial

For your trial, it's best not to wear any make-up, as we don't want to waste time taking it off when we can get the ball rolling to creating the bespoke look you want for your big day.

Trial your fake tan before your trial

If you are planning on wearing fake tan on the big day, it’s a good idea to try this in prep for your makeup trial appointment. We will base the colour tones of your makeup on the colour of your tan, so come to your trial with the tan you want for your wedding day.

Are you thinking about hair extensions?

Hair extensions can also make a huge difference and can enhance certain styles which require volume or length. If this is something you are considering, maybe test these out too ready for your hair trial.

Try and wear the colour of your dress to your trial

It's a good idea if you can wear a similar colour and neckline to your dress, as this helps to reflect the colour back into your face and helps you to visualise how you will look on the day. And don't worry, we'll be ready with the tissues. It can be emotional to see yourself for the first time, look and feel like a bride.

  • Q Do I need hair extensions for my wedding day?

Have you dreamt of walking down the aisle with long, luscious locks?

Hair extensions might be the right choice for your wedding hairstyle, whether that be up or down. NOTE: The first time you wear hair extensions shouldn't be on your wedding day. It's recommended that you get used to the feeling, look, and weight of having extra hair ahead of your big day. You should consider bringing clip-ins to your hair trial appointment or if opted for a more semi-permanent option like weaved in, LA weaved, tape-ins, beaded or bonded - we highly recommend you book a consultation with a hair extension specialist to arrange fitting prior to your hair trial. Luckily, with clip-in hair extensions, that's totally doable. Hair extensions are not only used for length but can also be added for increased volume! Hair extensions create endless possibilities for new looks and do’s. It’s so much easier to get a fuller-looking bun or braid when using extensions because there’s just more hair to work with. With numerous varieties of extensions available, they are the perfect way to create your dream wedding hair. They add additional hair which is attached temporary or semi-permanent. The hair used can be either human or synthetic hair, and can vary in price depending on the application technique and the quality of the hair.

  • Q. How much is a trial?

    It's complimentary with every package

One complimentary brides only consultation & trial is included within every package we offer. This can be arranged upon securing your booking with your deposit and any additional trials do incur a fee. Some brides may be undecided on what look they want to go for, and want to see themselves in two completely different looks; of course, we can tweak the first look but it is not recommended for hair or makeup trials that we try more than one look on one day as the second look will never look quite as perfect. The hair will be set & sectioned to a certain style and due to the long-wear products, they can be hard to remove.

How much do additional trials cost?

You are welcome to book additional brides trials if you want to try a few different looks. subject to diary availability. We charge £120 for a full hair & makeup trial (4hrs) or £95 per service - makeup or hair (2hrs).

  • Q. Do you do phone /Skype consultations?

We can schedule a phone call or Facetime

Hopefully, our FAQ's have answered a lot of your preliminary questions, but if you do prefer to chat we can schedule an initial phone call or FaceTime at a mutually convenient time to talk freely. We love to chat about all things makeup, hair and bridal and of course want to hear all about the details for your day.

  • Q. When should I schedule my trial?

Preferably 6 months before your big day

It's important that we meet in good time before your wedding and do a trial, where we can really get to know you and give you a truly personal and bespoke service. Ideally, your trial should be done about six months before your wedding date.

What time should you book your trial?

It's preferable to come in the daytime, ideally in the morning, so we can apply, check, photograph and video the look in natural light. Also, by having your trial during the day, you can trial the look, test out the staying power and skin suitability throughout the rest of the day. We recommend you wear the look for a minimum of 8 hours to ensure this. At 6 months prior to your wedding date, when you have finalised other key details - like your dress, accessories, bridesmaids, timings and colour theme etc, it is then time to focus on the one thing everyone will be looking at...you! We're happy to do your trial earlier or later, but it's recommended not too far away or too close to your wedding date as your hair & skin could change.

Can you book your trial for another event before the wedding?

Some brides like to arrange for their trial to coincide with a pre-wedding boudoir shoot, dress fitting, or even the kick-off of their hen night.  This way you can make the most of the look and you can really road test the staying power with the girls, without the groom seeing your surprise wedding look or having to take off the make-up before he gets home. Get in touch three months ahead of when you wish to schedule your trial, or in the case you are in a profession in which you have certain times of the year off (for example if you're a teacher, please let us know as soon as you're aware of your holidays as these dates are always in high demand).

  • Q. How long does the trial take?

    From 2 to 4 hours

A full hair & makeup trial will last approximately 2-4 hours. For bridal makeup trials, we allocate a 2hr slot for your appointment and will include a consultation, skin preparation and analysis, beauty regime advice and full make-up application plus brow shaping and false lashes if required. Similar time with bridal hair trials, of course depending on length, texture and style requested, we allocate a 2hr slot for your appointment. This includes a consultation and hairstyling at the placement of veil & accessories.

What happens at the trial and for how long?

Before each hair and makeup application, we will have a consultation and go through your bridal form (which we will ask you to bring to your appointment to discuss in detail your preferences, requirements, and any concerns or questions you might have). You will be sent a detailed form prior to your appointment so it is a good idea to complete the form in advance of your appointment as we have a lot to go through together. We pride ourselves on listening to what you want whether that be natural, classic or more glamorous, so please allow approximately 30 minutes for a bridal consultation. We will also ask you to add us on Facebook prior to trial so we can have a look at your style and start a private message to share images. At the end of the application, we will photograph and video the results to record the look when you are happy. We will also keep a record of the products and techniques used so they can be replicated on the day, without any hassle. At the end of the trial, we will finalise all details and start to arrange a timeline for your wedding morning.  We will create an action plan for the day so you can feel rest assured that all things hair and makeup will be smooth sailing on your wedding day.

  • Q. Do I need to bring my Veil and hair accessories with me to my trial?

If you have them, then YES!

We definitely recommend you bring any accessories you intend to wear like earrings, hair vines, combs, tiaras, decorative grips and pins, hair extensions and veils with you to your trial. So, we can incorporate all of these things into your look as these will all be taken into consideration when designing you your perfect makeup and hair look. At my bride trials, we like to combine the hair and makeup trial together so you can get a clear view of what you are going to look like minus the dress of course. We do have a practice veil here at our studio and a small selection of hair accessories to experiment with if you are undecided or your actual one is unavailable.

  • Q. Can I book my trial on a weekend?

We always try to arrange a trial date to suit your schedule

However please note we are unable to do any trial appointments on weekends. We keep weekends open solely for events and ceremonies. I am sure you are aware that any in-demand bridal makeup artist/hairstylist will be booked at most weekends. When a wedding is booked we offer a total exclusively to each bride. The volume of weddings booked at the weekends means that a rare weekend off is cherished by our artists. Many of whom have young families.

Only in extreme circumstances will a trial appointment will be arranged at weekends and this will incur an additional fee of £100 for your artists valuable family time. Trial appointments can be arranged earlier or later if you would like to ensure we can find an appointment that conveniently fits into your schedule. If you are a teacher please let us know, we do understand it’s nearly impossible to get time off during term time and that this may slightly complicate arranging a trial appointment, so we reserve all of the half term/ holidays slots solely for teachers.

  • Q. Can I have a trial before booking you?

    This is not possible

Due to the high demand on dates and running such a busy diary, this would be a waste of our time if the wedding date wasn’t available in our artists' diaries. You would need to reserve a date first as there is no point in spending the time at trial if we weren’t able to do the actual wedding day.

  • Q. After the trial, am I committed to book?

No, you are just liable to pay for the trial and any additional services on the day

After your trial appointment, we will ask you if you are overall happy with everything and confirm to move forward with your booking.

  • Q. What if I don’t like my trial results?

Makeup is all about balance and harmony

A trial should always be 100% a collaborative process. We're here to work with you, to create the bespoke look you dream about for your big day. This means not waiting till the last minute to express any doubts you may be having about a particular element. On your day, you want to look and feel like the best version of yourself. And sometimes to get there, it takes effective communication from YOU as well as your hair and makeup team. Although it’s important to trust the trial application process, so there are no unwelcome surprises. We like to ask questions and confirm each step, to ensure you are happy with the results, giving you the opportunity to check in a mirror throughout. Application step by step can look a little unfamiliar as we prefer to start with brows & eyes. Makeup is all about balance and harmony, it won’t properly come together till the last brush stroke. So it’s best to assess when completed and after you have looked in natural lighting and got used to your look. If you are unsure of anything in the end results, you need to tell us. If there is an element that doesn’t feel right, please provide your artist with feedback and we can amend it. We pride ourselves on listening to your specific requirements but sometimes a client can give us a brief based on a specific look in a magazine or photo that either isn't realistic or is too much out of their comfort zone.

You want to look your very best

For your wedding day, we think it’s a good idea to be a polished version of yourself. Of course, stay open to suggestions and try some new steps like lashes & contouring, but to adopt a radical new look isn’t the best plan. We will also give feedback on our thoughts, advice and always be honest about what’s achievable and appropriate. We will offer advice and direction on what we think will flatter you and work for your eye shape, face shape, hair texture colour etc. We have built this business and reputation on making ladies reach their full potential with hair & makeup so won’t do something that conflicts with our training and beauty ethos - if you look bad, we look bad. Sometimes a client may have been wearing something that isn’t as it should be (for example a misshapen brow), you are paying us for our experience and advice, to correct this for you. If you've been wearing your makeup or hair one way for many years, it can take a few hours to adjust to the new and improved version. We suggest you wear it all day so you can get used to looking at yourself with a fresh look. Ask your friends, family and loved ones for their opinions, sense of style and honesty.

A trial is a chance to try some new things out

If we experiment with something you haven't tried before, like a new lip shade or some eyelashes, and you decide they aren’t for you, that is okay. No problem at all as we can simply exclude these on the day. This is the point of the trial appointment to fine-tune the wedding day look so we have a clear plan.

  • Q. Can I bring someone with me to my appointment?

    Yes of course you can!

If it makes you feel more relaxed, or you value someone’s option on makeup or hair or you respect their style, you're more than welcome to bring someone with you. Whether it be members of your bridal party, your mum, friend or wedding planner etc, you can bring them with you to your trial but please do not bring the groom (this has happened!). At your trial, we need to discuss many surprising details about your wedding freely.

    How many people can come?

Our studio has professional makeup chairs for your application and additional seating for 2 guests. You can bring children and babies if you need to but please note the time of your trial can be a long time for restless little ones. There will also be various hair products and fixing sprays in the air and hot appliances to avoid. Please note: there is a park nearby, so in the case you need to bring the little ones along, you can bring a trusted person with you to take them to the park whilst you enjoy some "me time" and have a proper pamper.

  • Q. What shall I bring to my trial?

The only essential things you bring are your forms and yourself of course

We will send you a bridal form to complete prior to the appointment so it is important for you to bring that with you to your trial. Ideally, you should bring any accessories you are planning to wear: necklaces, veil, tiara, bracelets, clips etc. Photos on your phone are too really helpful for your trial appointment. Photos of your dress, bridal party, their outfits, your normal makeup look, your inspo pics etc are all great resources.

  • Q. What shall I wear to my trial appointment?

There are a few things you can wear to make the most of your appointment

For hair trials, please don’t wear items with a high collar like a polar neck, we would advise you wear something with a similar neckline as your wedding dress - like a vest top. Also, colour reflects into the skin so in the case you have something in a similar colour to your wedding dress, please wear it as this will give you a really good idea of how it will all look on the day. We can always provide robes to protect anything, you just have to ask.

  • Q. What if I or you have to cancel the trial?

    We understand things come up

Your trial appointment is booked specifically for you. Therefore, we ask that you notify us at least 48hrs in advance if you wish to cancel or reschedule. We run very busy diaries and a late cancellation means someone else is missing out on your slot. No shows and cancellations under 48hrs will incur an additional trial fee to rebook. Occasionally things cannot be avoided and in the case you're unwell, please let us know as soon as possible. If you are unwell, we would prefer you didn’t come and it’s probably best to reschedule as we are in such close proximity during the appointment and we don’t want to become ill for other clients weddings that week ahead. Equally, if an artist or stylist here is ill, we do not want to pass it on to you. Also, we’d rather postpone trials, rest and recover, than work all week doing trials then be very unwell for actual weddings at the weekend but if we have a little cold we may wear a mask. Don’t be alarmed, it’s just good practice and precautionary. Sometimes we also may get a last-minute wedding booking where a bride has either been let down or family illness brings a wedding forward. In which case, she may need to book us last minute and with little notice. We will try to accommodate these clients so if in the rare chance happens, we may have to rearrange your trial date, we advise you book your trial no earlier than 3 months ahead to avoid this.

  • Q. How do I book my trial?

There are a couple of essentials before booking your trial

After your 'Save The Date' form has been received and we have reserved your date, your deposit is then cleared and you've secured your wedding date, we then arrange the next steps, your trials. Please get in contact via the email thread a couple of months before you wish to book the trial appointment and we can compare diaries. Let us know if you have any preferences and if there is a particular event you wish to coincide with or if you have a couple of dates in mind for your trial. Please let us know and we can check our current availability.

  • Q. Do you recommend a trial?

YES! trial runs are super important for a bride to see what she will look like prior to her wedding day. They leave you feeling confident about the services you will receive on your wedding day, so you can relax and enjoy your morning. It’s like a dress rehearsal for your bridal look. It’s a great opportunity to get to know your artist and more importantly for them to get to know you We recommend using that appointment for an engagement session, dress fitting appointment or perfect start to a girls night, etc. Trials are not limited to just the bride. You can book trials for anyone who wants one!

  • Q. Can I schedule my trial for an evening ?

It's Highly recommened to come in the daytime, ideally in the morning, so we can apply, check, photograph, and video the look in natural light. Also, by having your trial during the day, you can trial the look, test out the staying power and skin suitability throughout the rest of the day. We recommend you wear the look for a minimum of 8 hours to ensure this.

BRIDAL PARTY TRIALS

  • Q. Do I need to book trials for my entire bridal party?

    This is up to you

Mums and Bridesmaids too can rest assured that we will make them look a million dollars with or without a trial. Before any application, on the day we will ask questions and listen to their preferences. Trials for everyone are not essential and sometimes not possible but may be required if you do have someone with concerns, sensitivity or someone who is quite particular - this is entirely your choice. At your trial, we will work closely with you if you have booked a package for friends and family to design a look that will compliment all of your bridal party and most importantly you. From our experience, it's best to decide the brides look first, as the bridal party should complement this look with theirs and not the other way around or be the same as the bride. Even if your bridesmaids live on the other side of the world, we can still design them a beautiful look from a photograph and some key information. If you wish we can create and mood boards for you to share with your bridal party on the proposed look.

  • Q. When should I book my bridal party trials?

Let's make a plan if you want members of your party to have trials too

If you wish to tag on a Mum's makeup trial at the end of your trial, that should be fine. With multiple bridal party trials, we may need to opt for different dates or for us to book assistants. After your trial (2-4hrs), once we have a chance to create a schedule, book our team etc as they may need a trial with our pro team depending on timings. It is vital that we create a harmonious look for your bridal party, which complements your bridal look perfectly. So, you may also wish to discuss your bridesmaids look prior to their trial and discuss a theme, create a design you like, rather than what each individual would prefer which can look uncoordinated and disjointed. You may wish to talk to our artists and/or stylists privately as often one bridesmaid wears too much make-up or one who wears nothing at all and it’s vital that no one stands out for all the wrong reasons. There's a certain etiquette to hair and makeup for an occasion such as a wedding and we're here to ensure we get this right. If there are any concerns about diva bridesmaids or meltdown mums, we can have a private chat at your trial if you have anyone in your bridal party who is super sensitive, particularly fussy, difficult, or you maybe don’t particularly like their normal style for your wedding. If you do wish to book optional trials for several members of your bridal party on the same date as your trial, this may be best arranged with our pro team assisting. Sometimes it is better to book another date so we have enough time to focus on you at your trial and for the reasons mentioned above.

  • Q. How much is it for bridal party trials?

    Remember these trials are optional

In the case your Mother, Maid of Honour or Bridesmaids may want a trial, this is an additional option that will incur a charge, costs are available to view on our packages and additional expenses page, bridal party trials are payable prior to their appointment via BACS. No shows or no payment for this the fee will be invoiced to you, our client.

  • Q. Is it okay not to book bridal party trials?

That's fine, trials for your bridal party are optional

If you don’t wish to have a trial for any other members of your bridal party, that’s fine too. We will talk at length at your trial about all the members of your party who require our services. We can easily design a look from a photograph of them, if you wish to do this please bring it with you on your phone or we can look on their social media. Or even better, send them to us via a private Facebook message, so we can start to share images privately as they don’t appear in your gallery. With photos and a few details, we can create a look for members of your bridal party for the big day. Skin patch test and consultation is complimentary for any of your bridal party and is advisable if a member of a bridal party has particularly sensitive skin.
