TRAINED IN HOLLYWOOD
Ruth is an award winning makeup artist & hair stylist based in Worcestershire in the Midlands with over 20 years international experience, specialising in beauty, bridal & commercial makeup & hair.
Before discovering her passion for makeup Ruth studied fine art & illustration and worked in the fashion industry as a model. Behind the scenes Ruth curiously studied the Makeup-artists and realised her true calling. It was after having her makeup done by legendary Japanese makeup artist Shu Uemura, Ruth was inspired to make her passion her full-time profession enrolling to study Makeup & hair.
Since qualifying in 1997 Ruth went on to further her training assisting top British MUA Ruby Hammer MBE and working with celebrity hairdresser Patrick Cameron. In 2005 she won national makeup competition with cosmetics brand Stila and won a trip to Los Angeles to attend an advanced makeup artist training with Hollywood artists Jeanine Lobell, Sarah Lucero and Shawn Peltier.
NEVER STOPS LEARNING
Ruth continues to learn & grow as both and artist and educator herself. During her career, she has trained retail artists for luxury brands such as Estée Lauder, Benefit, Space NK, Mecca Cosmetica, Sephora & Stila. And In 2010 She qualified as a University & college lecturer teaching on Degree and BTEC makeup & hair courses. Ruth as a brow obsessive, has also attended the Phi Academy to study the art of micro blading and brow mapping
During her career Ruth has creating looks both nationally and internationally backstage at London Fashion Week, Sydney Fashion Week, Clothes Show Live, National Wedding Show, Wella Trend Vison and L’Oréal Colour Trophy.
Her commercial clients to date include household names Simple Skincare, Morrison’s, Bosch, Spec Savers, Falows U.K. Shoe Zone, Rockport shoes, Selco, La Redoute and Dorma. In addition, Ruth has worked with production companies BBC, ITV, Channel Four, Granada.
Her work has featured in publications You & Your Wedding, Hairdressers Journal, Fae, Your West Midlands Wedding, Wedding ideas and Perfect Wedding & Rock My Wedding
